毎晩のように絵本を読み聞かせしている。最近ひらがながゆっくり読めるようになった息子だが、それ以前から音で覚えた記憶をもとに自分で読んだりもしていた。意味は知らないけど音で覚えている単語や擬音語も含めて暗記しているのを見て、後から意味を学んで生きた言語として定着するんだろうなと観察している。これが子どもが言語を習得するプロセスなんだろう。
これまでに読み聞かせしてきた絵本はたぶんもう100冊は超えていると思うけれど、息子がずっと好きなシリーズ・作品は以下。

子どもの成長も感じられるし、読んでいる自分も楽しめる絵本に出会ったりもするので、絵本を読むのは好きである。
